MARY MARGARET PEREZ
EDINBURG - Mary Margaret Perez, 74, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, October 18, 2016, in Edinburg surrounded by her family. Born in Hidalgo and formerly of Roma, Texas she had lived in Edinburg for the past 3 years. Mrs. Perez is preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Esther Chavez; two sisters, Martha Lorenzo and Esther Sperry; her in-laws, Lino and Dora Perez Jr.
Mrs. Perez graduated from McAllen High School in 1960. She attended college at Incarnate Word and graduated from Pan American University in 1972. She taught at Eli Whitney Elementary in Pharr and continued teaching at Roma Middle School until her retirement in 1996. Margaret was the Grand Sultana of the Order of the Alhambra El Cid Caravan #106. She was a member of the Dine and Dance Club, Roma Thimble Club, Texas Delta Theta Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, McAllen Book Club and the Pan American Round Table.
Mrs. Perez is survived by her husband, Lino Perez III; four children, Michael (Delia) Perez, Eric (Elina) Perez, Yvette (Esteban Velasquez) Perez and Clariza (Ricardo) Rivera; 8 grandchildren, Phoebe Lopez, Andres Perez, Ariana Rivera, Michael Perez Jr., Ariel Chavana, Marco Rivera, Brisa Perez, and Ethan Perez.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
